Throne of Glass by Sarah J Maas

Celaena Sardothian, a name to fear. An assassin. One of the best. She is stuck in the salt mines of Edovier, when the prince offers her a chance to change her life. If she will compete as the king’s champion, she will serve him for a few years, then be released. She must compete and she must win. As she gains her strength, there is another threat besides her competitors; someone is killing off her competition. In order to stay alive, she tries to get to the bottom of this mystery. The only problem is the prince, he is not afraid of her, and she finds him being able to wrench himself into her heart, a place she locked, and was never supposed to open. She must win the competition, against the darkest of magic, all she can hope is that she can live through the final battle, and save all she holds dear.
