Craig Gliner has suffered from severe depression ever since entering a high school with extremely high standards. It also doesn’t help that his best friend is currently dating someone that he has had a crush on since elementary school. All the stress causes him to check himself into a hospital, and they admit him to a psychiatric unit. During his one week admittance, he meets many unique people of all different ages and they teach him a little more about himself every day. He begins to realize who his real friends are and what his talents are. Especially after meeting Noelle, who seems to have more problems than he does, and they fall for each other. Although one week in the hospital didn’t solve all of Craig’s problems, he left being a happier person and it was very inspiring.
Throughout this novel, it was really easy to fall in love with Craig’s humor. His humor and his story were very easy to understand and relate to. It’s the idea that all teenagers are on the search to find who they are; some just have more difficulty doing it than others. This book was also quite a page turner. The chapters are shorter making you want to read more and more to find out what happens next. Overall this was probably one of the best books I’ve read in a while! I loved it!
