Zombie Blondes by Brian James

Hannah is tired of the lies. She is tired of moving, tired of being the new kid. Ever since her father lost his job on the police force it’s been a new town every few months. Along with the moves are promises of a better life. “This time it will be better,” he promises. It never is better; it’s almost always worse. When they drive into Maplecrest, Hannah can sense that there is something not right about this town. The for sale signs, the empty houses, the empty streets give off an eerie, frightening feeling that this town is not a place where anyone would want to live. On the first day of school, an outsider named Lukas tries to warn her not to get pulled in by the “popular” crowd. She is hesitant to heed his warning since it would be great to have some friends for a change. Hannah discovers the hard way that things are not always the way they seem, and that she may need to pay a high price for popularity. This suspenseful novel will keep you guessing until the last page, and it will keep you thinking long after that.
