In this futuristic, science fiction novel, Thomas wakes up to find himself in "The Glade," which is populated by a society of teenage boys. He has arrived in an elevator-type apparatus, inside an enclosed box. The box has delivered him to "The Glade" which is a safe zone inside a maze-like nightmare of moving walls, and techno-beasts, from which there seems to be no escape. He has no memory of how he got there, where he came from, or what has happened to him in his past. He has some vague recollections, but nothing is clear to him. The group of boys who greet him are sullen and unwelcoming, and they refuse to give him any information until "the proper time." When a girl arrives in the box a few days later, everything begins to change, and Thomas realizes that he has a special, and dangerous mission. This is a highly suspenseful page-turner that will have you rushing off to get the sequel. Look for Book 2 -The Scorch Trials for more of this exciting saga. Book 3 is scheduled to be released in the fall of 2011.
