This enthralling zombie novel takes place in modern day America. Phoebe describes her tale about teenagers rising from the dead for some unknown reason. To make matters even worse, one of her dear friends has died and come back from the dead. Oakville High is one of the few schools that allows the "differently biotic" kids to continue their school years, as well as allowing the Hunter Foundation to study the living and the dead together. They provide classes, counseling and minute jobs to those who have signed up. Not all of the kids at Oakville High take kindly to the dead heads, especially when Phoebe starts falling for Tommy Williams, the leader of the dead kids. Stranger things start to occur, like the re-death of the undead.
