The story, Hatchet by Gary Paulsen, begins on a plane heading to Canada. During the flight the pilot has a heart attack and the plane goes down. The plane lands in a river. The only survivor is the main character, Brian. He doesn’t know where he is other than in the middle of the woods. All he has is a hatchet he brought with him. With Brian’s survival skills he should be able to survive what nature brings to him. But can he?
