Divergent by Veronica Roth

This is for those who like Hunger Games and can't get enough of the dystopian novel. In this novel, all sixteen-year-olds are given a choice of "factions" or mini-communities where they will spend the rest of their lives. Each faction is dedicated to a particular strength or virtue. After inconclusive results in the screening, Beatrice, the main character in Divergent, has decided to leave her home faction to join the daring faction known as the Dauntless. The initiation is grueling and dangerous. During the process, Beatrice changes her name to Tris, and competes for a spot in this very exclusive faction. She struggles to learn the necessary skills, while learning who her real friends are. When she learns some disturbing truths she finds she must make decisions which will change the course of her life and the lives of those around her. The novel starts a little slowly but picks up the pace and keeps the tension throughout.
