The White Darkness by Geraldine McCaughrean

The White Darkness by Geraldine McCaughrean This book by Geraldine McCaughrean is quite intriguing. It's a story about a girl, Sym, who goes on a so called vacation to Antarctica with her uncle Victor. They meet a bunch of lively people inclusing Manfred and his son Sigurd, a father and son from Norway interested in making a movie. But when times get tough, Sym relies on her imaginary friend Captain Titus Oates who once lived and visited the Antarctic. When Uncle Victor, Manfred, Sigurd and Sym set off alone to find a wonder of the world called Symme's Hole, many things go extrememly wrong. Manfred gets left behind, Sigurd, who once loved Sym turns his back on her, and Uncle Victor seems to go crazy. Or was he crazy all along? Sym has to find her true self through all of the White Darkness of the Antarctic and pull through to safety.
